"The leaves fall,
the wind blows....
and the farm country
slowly changes from the
Summer cotton into it's
Winter wools..."

Sweet Annie's fleece looks so soft I could crawl in and cuddle for a long Winter's nap. Her jacket was too small and I need to juggle a few sheep to find another for her....in the mean time I get to drool over it!

For a minute there, she lost her head over how gorgeous she is!

The hay man cometh! They pulled in this year with the truck stacked 100 tall and pulling a wagon full of straw! Nothing gets better then this!!! When they left my pockets were empty!!! They do a great job and there's nothing better then having a faithful hay man! Next he's going to find me 3 round bales and bring them so we'll be set for whatever furry nature has this year. I really hope it's not a bad Winter, but they are predicting more snow then last....UGG!!

To a farmer, a full barn is like a pantry lined with canned goods from Summer's garden.

The sheep are still gleaning what they can from the pastures. They now have free range of all 3 pastures. I'm pretty surprised at the growth we've had in October. I think we've had to cut the grass about every 7-10 days which is quite surprising for this time of year in Maryland. But I will take whatever "free" ranging I can get! The days ranging, means 1 less day to feed hay! And that is a good thing!

The barn kitties LOVe a full barn! They climb to the tippy top and hide away in the warmth of the bales.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think Clemy is preggers....look at that Fatty McFatty!
But without a ram...the chances are pretty close to 0%!!! (I must confess that I did check her udder! ;) I was a tad nervous that perhaps tiny man, Oliver Wendell was busy before he was banded.) She however was my only ewe that didn't lamb in the Spring, so she has plenty of fat stores....not to mention she likes to sneak in and eat grain with the other ewes who NEED it! She most emphatically does NOT need it!!!

It was a beautiful end to a near perfect day! I've been gaining my strength back and feeling SO much better with just 1 week of an anti-detox dieting! (the anti stands for anti-inflammatory, anti-histamine, anti-anaphylactic....)

And to top it off, I sat on the porch and watched the ISS (International Space Station) float by! Pretty awesome!

Nothing beats the serenity of livestock rustling in the hay, one of my cherished farm life memories. No cathedrals for me, I'll take the peace of a barn any day!!
